About ITMA

What is ITMA
The Imported Tyre Manufacturers' Association exists to represent the interests of international tyre manufacturers actively and directly engaged in marketing their products in the United Kingdom and the E.E.C.
The Association dates back over twenty years, to a time when imported tyre brands first started to make an impact in the British marketplace. It has grown ever since and now represents some fifteen manufacturers and twenty-five brands of tyre, with ranges varying from car to truck, agricultural to motorcycle and earthmover.
The Association has a permanent Director and elects a President from among its members. ITMA is a company owned and limited by the guarantee of its members and is, therefore, completely non profit-making. ITMA is a founder member of Britain's Tyre Industry Council and British Tyre Industry Federation which, together with other associations, seeks to promote greater tyre safety and consumer awareness of tyres.

What ITMA does
Few people in the tyre industry would need reminding of the sheer weight of rules, regulations and legislation passed in recent years. ITMA keeps a watching brief on Parliament, the European Union, UK Government departments and others. Together with our fellow associations we can intervene quickly, and usually effectively, when regulations affecting the interests of our members are proposed.

Summary
The Association's objectives are:
 • To provide a forum for the discussion of matters of common interest, both technical and commercial.
 • To disseminate and collect information of mutual and public interest.
 • To organise trade and governmental contacts beneficial to its members' businesses.
 • To act collectively in the interests of the tyre industry and of the consumer.
 • To seek to promote and advance the interests of a healthy and successful British tyre industry.
 • Through appointed representatives, play an active part in the Tyre Industry Council (TIC) and the Tyre Industry Federation (TIF).

Membership & structure
ITMA Members are either wholly-owned subsidiaries of a manufacturing parent or companies trading in the United Kingdom under the parent company name.
Membership of the Association is corporate and is not vested in any individual representative.
The organisation structure is simple and effective. Meetings are held four or five times a year and the core business of the association is managed by a steering committee, regularly elected by members.
